City Hearing practices the principles of global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Peter leads by example and encourages company staff and business associates in getting involved to promote environmental sustainability, fair business, social justice and giving back to the community.
Corporate Social Responsibility is the continuing commitment by business to behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as of the local community and society at large.
Peter has been an active community volunteer for many years. His community service includes:
- Honorary Consultant (Audiologist) to the Advisory Council for Children with Impaired Hearing (Blackburn VIC)
- President, Board of Management, Family Relationships Institute (Victoria)
- Filipino Australian Friendship Association of Geelong Inc- Member from 2003; elected Executive Committee Member and Volunteer Newsletter Editor, 2005 to present
- Active, ongoing Consultant Audiologist to the Gualandi Effata Catholic School for Deaf Children (Cebu City, Philippines) since 1991
- Active, ongoing Consultant Audiologist to Philippine General Hospital (Manila, Philippines) since 1991- supporting Medical Missions (Audiology/ENT) as part of outreach program to poor and rural communities.
City Hearing is a proud sponsor for many community events. These include:
- Annual Pasko sa Nayon (Christmas in the Village) Community Concerts– this is a community-driven Filipino Christmas public event in the City of Melbourne since 2007. Held at Federation Square every December in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013, Pasko sa nayon is the only Filipino event endorsed on the City of Melbourne Cultural Events Calendar. City Hearing is an Event Sponsor in partnership with City of Melbourne and Victorian Multicultural Commission. (Pasko sa Nayon Infomercial Jan 2010)
- Philippine President Gloria Arroyo’s 2007 State Visit to Australia– in support of Philippine Embassy Canberra, City Hearing was Financial Sponsor for Melbourne Delegation to the Business Leaders Address at Australian Parliament, Canberra
- Global Filipino Youth Leadership Awards 2008– in support of the host Global Filipinos Australia organisation in Sydney, City Hearing was Financial Sponsor for Melbourne Youth Awardees and Delegation to Sydney (NSW Parliament House)
- Helicopter Community Art Project 2010– part sponsorship from City Hearing towards the joint project between Kultour/ Newport Substation Community Art/ Kulcha/ Bayanihan Australia Community Network in bringing artist in residence Alwin Reamiro for community & school art workshops in Melbourne. Nov-3 Dec 2010.
- Global Marathon Runner Cesar Guarin’s Around the World Marathon Run for Street Kids 2011 (October 2011) – to raise funds towards sport development of Filipino street kids. In cooperation with the Office of Philippine Consulate Victoria, City Hearing sponsored food and accommodation for the marathon crew enroute from Melbourne to ACT and NSW.
- Philippine President Benigno Aquino’s October 2012 State Visit to Australia– in cooperation with the Office of Philippine Consulate Victoria, Peter from City Hearing attended as Business Delegate from Melbourne to the Australian-Philippines Business Dinner, Sydney.
- Give Love on Christmas Day Benefit Concert, 23 December 2013 at Federation Square- part sponsored by City Hearing, this public concert was in partnership with community groups, young Filipino artists and the Australian Red Cross; the proceeds went to the victims of Super Typhoon Haiyan in Vietnam and the Philippines.
